March is National Brain Injury Awareness Month and it’s a great time to raise awareness about traumatic brain injury (TBI), which can be a life-altering or fatal injury to sustain. Many traumatic brain injuries occur due to blunt force trauma to the brain. When this happens, the brain shakes around inside the skull, which can cause bruising and bleeding to occur. In some cases, the brain swells due to the injury and because of the skull there is no place for the brain to go, causing pressure which can cause further damage to the brain tissue.

Brain injuries can also occur if a person’s brain is deprived of oxygen for an extended period of time, as can occur with some birth injuries or with near-drownings. Injury can also occur if the skull is pierced and the tissue inside is directly impacted.

Research has shown that women are far more likely to be misdiagnosed when compared with men. Women are 50% more likely than men to be misdiagnosed if they have a heart attack and 30% more likely than men to be misdiagnosed after a stroke. In addition, conditions that affect women, such as fibroids or endometriosis, can take ten years or longer to accurately diagnose, even though these diseases affect one in ten women.

Doctors have an obligation to provide good care to all their patients, and that includes the half of patients that are women. When doctors do not take women’s care seriously and women suffer serious complications or fatalities, medical professionals can and should be held accountable.

Homestead residents who attend a church, synagogue, or other place of worship turn to their faith to help them grow spiritually with others. No one attends a service or religious event expecting to be injured, yet this situation affects many people of faith every year. Whether you are attending a place of worship for a religious event or regular service, a social event, for volunteer work, or for another cause, if you have been injured by the organization’s negligence, you may have a claim.

Types of Injuries On Religious Organization Grounds

No matter what kind of faith service you are attending, you have a reasonable expectation to be safe and your church, mosque, or other place of worship has a duty to take reasonable steps to keep you safe. Despite this, there are many types of injuries that happen at places of worship:

Ghost kitchens are popping up everywhere in Hollywood, Miami, and across South Florida. Also known as delivery-only kitchens, these facilities are for the preparation of food for food trucks, take out-only restaurants, delivery-only eateries, caterers, chefs, and others who need a kitchen on a temporary basis.

Companies offer ghost kitchens to multiple users and advertise their facilities are stocked with appliances, counter space, and everything else chefs need to prepare their culinary creations. They may have loading bays for food trucks, kitchens lighted for YouTube cooking channels, and other features to help chefs prepare their food.

Many companies offering these facilities on a time-share basis offer insurance and security features, but what happens if you are injured, either as a customer or a worker in these kitchens? Since this business is still fairly new, getting fair compensation for your injuries may be challenging. You may wish to consult with a Miami premises liability attorney or workplace injury claims attorney.

For many Miami homeowners, their swimming pool is one of the largest concerns when it comes to premises liability. After all, if a guest is injured on the property, homeowners may face legal claims. Even if a child trespasses on the property, the owner may be liable if the child is injured in the pool.

And pool injuries are a concern in Miami. There are many ways people are injured in pool incidents each year. There are drownings and near-drownings where survivors are seriously injured because they are deprived of oxygen for minutes. Head injuries, slip and fall injuries, and spinal cord trauma as well as fractures and lacerations are also common around the pool.

Short-term rentals through sites such as Airbnb are popular in Coral Springs, Miami, and other cities in South Florida. Some travelers like them because they offer less-expensive stays when compared with hotels. Others like the unique properties and home amenities, such as kitchens, available through short-term rentals.

However, there is a trade-off. While hotels and official accommodations are legally obligated to maintain certain standards of safety and cleanliness, short-term rentals are under no such official obligation. Studies and investigative reports have shown that a significant portion of short-term rentals lack safety basics such as first aid kits, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and carbon monoxide detectors.

I had a lawyer on another case and I never spoke to the lawyer and I hated that I never knew what was going on in my case. Mr. Flaxman was in constant communication with me, explained everything to me, and his staff was really great too. My phone calls were always returned immediately. It was refreshing to be able to speak to my attorney personally. I would HIGHLY recommend Mr. Flaxman as an attorney to anyone who has been in an accident. Gloria
